*Sighs* Yeah, the gift and the choice recur. That's one of the things that makes it meaningful, that I have to constantly recommit to living a Jewish life, but with the news from Paris so soon after the news from Brooklyn. Not to mention all the other incidents of late. .. it's exhausting and demoralizing. They stationed two police officers in our shul lobby yesterday during Shabbos davening. Which was a much less cautious response than in France, where many synagogues cancelled Shabbos services altogether.
I can imagine 'exhausting', I think. I am imagining that you have a paradox whereby hostile and shocking incidents clustering together are a pattern in the way they make an impact on you - but not a pattern in the way that patterns can be predicted or controlled.
Eh. Gah. I didn't know about the Brooklyn stabbing. I'm sorry.
