Guys, a warning is probably in order. I've seen friends' blogs explode with sudden enthusiasm for a new fandom and I've always appreciated when they gave a heads up first, to let me know that for the next however long I should keep only half an eye on their blog because that sort of enthusiasm is great, but if you don't share the fandom it's just a long stream of meaningless text.

So I want to warn you that for the next week or two that may be happening for me and Zadie Smith's The Autograph Man. You see, I wrote a two thousand word review of it and I still am nowhere near done talking about how amazing a book it is.

And I've already starting writing fic. Here's my first The Autograph Man ficlet:

Zadie Smith's a pretty dang good writer; I very much enjoyed White Teeth. Tons of fun.

I spent a while last night reading her review of Netherland and Remainder, which is an incredibly sophisticated manifesto on reinvigorating the form of the novel. Two Paths for the Novel. Made me think so deeply about my own writing, as well as my reading.
