seekingferretOkay, even though I have never watched a single episode of Supernatural, I watched all thirty minutes of this last night:

Summary:
It's a very stupid joke deliberately taken past the point where it's funny, and that's always up my alley so of course I"m there for that. And the editing is exquisite, in a way that speaks of bothsisabet's tremendous skill at timing and the technical details of editing, and their incredible familiarity with the massive canon source involved. So it's that wonderful thing, a stupid joke well-executed.
But there's a surprising depth to the joke over the thirty minutes. The joke isn't as simple or straightforward as the title suggests and as the quickie vid it is based on would suggest. It's not about how the Dean/Castiel relationship covers the same romantic ground over and over again. It's about how the Dean/Castiel relationship covers nearly identical romantic ground in endless and abundantly creative new iterations, while always staying clearly on the queerbaiting side of the line. The vid communicates so clearly how much density and variety of story there is in 14 seasons of Supernatural... and how the Dean/Castiel relationship remains a thing of devoted glances and touches overloaded with meaning after ALL THAT TIME. The length of the vid really gives a palpable weight to the storysisabet is telling.
