Artemis is Andy Weir writing Wyoh Knott. This is infinitely better than Robert Heinlein writing Wyoh Knott, though there regrettably are a few less puns. But it's still Andy Weir writing Wyoh Knott, and Weir is not notable for being able to write believable female characters. Still, the wacky techno-piracy hijinks are fun and nobody does pointless technical details like Weir.
I do think it's telling that Jazz's revolution does not involve actually organizing a revolution. Heinlein saw World War II, he believed in the possibility of effecting change in society at large. Andy Weir is GenX and doesn't believe in that bullshit. The best you can manage is looking out for yourself and maybe making the status quo a tiny bit better.
