Jan. 12th, 2011 12:40 pmI have finally posted a story that I've been working on since... oh, probably about July or August. Damn, it feels good to post that sumbitch. Yay snow days.
"Only the Third Story in this Forsaken Fandom Whose Title Does Not Begin with If"
Fandom: If on a winter's night a traveler
Yes, my long awaited second IOAWNAT story, with crossover to some favorite metafictions you've never read (My favorite part of this story might be adding two fandom tags to AO3), plus a shoutout to the Yuletide fandom I was gifted this year. And it's full of great characters and fun language and those thorny questions about authority I love to ask.
And also a paragraph that works better out of context than in story, so I'll excerpt it here as an enticement to read:
You are Nicholas Cage as Charlie Kaufman trying to adapt Susan Orlean's The Orchid Thief for the screen, but failing to find the narrative. You're Nicholas Cage's twin brother as Donald Kaufman, flailing around unaware that even your attempt doesn't matter. You are Harold Bloom's anxiety. You are Leopold Bloom's incautiousness. You are all the rules Calvino didn't dare to break, shattering like Stephen Glass's journalistic integrity. You'd be called the Death of the Author, if Barthes were alive to identify you. You're a worn out writer who really needs a fucking drink. This minute.
