Jul. 14th, 2019 09:31 amTitle: Vibranium
content notes: Potentially visually triggering editing? Not sure
Song: "Lithium x Titanium" by Postmodern Jukebox
Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Length:3:00
responsible for the lack of consistency in title block from vid to vid: seekingferret
Thanks to:
starlady,
theletterelle, and
glassesofjustice for betaing.
Summary: Vibranium: The rarest mettle on Earth
Ha, after all that talk about vidding strategy I ended up making a vid that, while it does use a few more effects than I usually do, is still an incredibly ME vid, and one that is unlikely to score all that well with the judges. I don't care, I'm really proud of this vid.

Date: 2019-07-15 12:43 am (UTC)Some of it is also baked in; Jack Kirby and Stan Lee were much better at composing Black Panther than they were with the various Americans of African Antecedents (though some of the cringe is equal opportunity The Seventies by the Greatest Generation(tm)) I'm pretty sure Ryan and others have read more back catalog than I have.

Date: 2019-07-17 10:46 am (UTC)Cap literally walks around with a stolen piece of Wakanda on his back all the time, it always connects him to T'Challa and the legacy of American colonialism.

Date: 2019-07-18 03:09 pm (UTC)Dialogue from Age of Ultron:
Tony Stark: If this guy got out of Wakanda with some of their trade goods...
Steve Rogers: I thought your father said he got the last of it?
Bruce Banner: I don't follow. What comes out of Wakanda? [looking at Steve's shield]
Tony Stark: The strongest metal on earth.
So as of Age of Ultron, Steve already knew that Howard Stark knew got vibranium from Wakanda, and my best inference is that he's known since the WWII era, that he knows because of something Howard said to him. But it is a possible read that Steve only knows because Tony and Steve talked about Howard and Tony told him the history of the metal in his shield.
Regardless, Steve keeps using the shield until the end of Civil War, showing no guilt about its origins, and he gets it back in Endgame.
