Nov. 26th, 2018 09:12 amIt was a really good Thanksgiving break.
Wednesday night I went out for drinks with a NaNo buddy. Normally Wednesday is our hang out in Starbucks and try to write night, but we decided to take a break for Thanksgiving and just hang out without trying to be productive.
Thursday was of course the big day. We've had an alternation for the past number of years between my aunt hosting Thanksgiving and my mom hosting, and it was supposed to be my mom's year, but she was unexpectedly down in Florida helping my grandmother sort out rehab post-knee surgery. But she'd already bought a turkey, so my brother figured out how to cook it and everyone helped out with the cooking and we ended up having a really nice if impromptu dinner.
Friday I stayed home and festividded and made Shabbos with Thanksgiving leftovers. I had a quiet Shabbos of mostly reading Rabbi Jonathan Sacks. After Shabbos I went out to see more NaNo friends. Even though I haven't seriously tried to do NaNo in three or four years, I still like to visit a write-in or two. NaNo was never really about writing for me, it was always much more about meeting interesting people who are not the type of people I normally socialize with. So I started my Yuletide fic and talked to some people I've been seeing every year in November and only November, in some cases for as long as a decade.
Sunday morning I vidded some more after davening, and then went to the Riveters game. We won! In a shootout after tying the game up in the third period!!!! It was a pretty exciting ending, I had fun.
