Life progresses.

Work's been alternately frustratingly busy and satisfyingly fun. I have a lot on my plate, so when it's getting done I'm happy and when it's not getting done, either because of my own failures to keep up or because of circumstances beyond my control, it's not fun. We've hired three new engineers in 2018- one only lasted a week before quitting without explanation. Getting them up to speed has been a trial, but hopefully in the long run it'll be a good thing.

I got hooked on the National Women's Hockey League and the Metropolitan Riveters, delighted that I could see such high quality hockey so easily. I've attended three home games in the past month, including Sunday's Isobel Cup final, in which the Riveters beat the Buffalo Beauts 1-0 behind brilliant goaltending from Katie Fitzgerald. Now I have to wait until the fall to see them again, but I'm definitely going back.

The combination of daylight savings time giving me late afternoon daylight after work and the streak of cold weather and March nor'easters ending has let me get back on my bicycle after the winter. So far only on rides of a couple miles or so, but when Passover is over I anticipate longer rides again. I also have upgraded my bike over the winter with the addition of some extra bright LED lamps, so I feel more comfortable riding at night. Monday I rode over to the weekly Torah study class I've been going to, 2 mile away on the other side of town, in daylight. I haven't done that before because I was worried about the ride home in the dark, but with the new lights and a reflective vest, it worked out pretty straightforwardly. The big goal for this spring is to ride to the kosher Chinese restaurant in Manville- 14 mile ride there, mostly on the Canal trail, then 14 miles back. That's ambitious for me, but I think doable once the weather turns nicer.

I have been vidding up a storm the past few weeks. Figured out an ending to my VVC Premiere, making strong incremental progress on my CVV Premiere, made major progress on a possible Wiscon Premiere, started a new vid in Yiddish with a target audience of me, made a couple ten minute crackvid projects for my own amusement. Lots of deadlines coming soon, but I feel confident. I've been doing really good work.

And Pesach starts Friday evening and I AM NOT READY. I've been doing cleaning in bits the last few days because I can't seem to force myself to do it all in one shot. Dishes are put away, some countertops are cleaned and covered, oven was scrubbed and put through self-cleaning cycle last night, I made arrangements to sell my chametz, but there is still an awful lot to do tonight and tomorrow night. I'll be going to first night Seder at my parents (my dad said they're expecting 17 people!), spending all of First Days with them, and I think second night we're going to my uncle's shul for a community seder.

The one thing I am most excited about is, as usual, a new Haggadah. A college friend of mine made it and it is super-gimmicky, but also gorgeous: https://unboundjerusalem.com/ The gimmick is that the pages are durable cardboard and can be separated and passed around so everyone can participate in the questions the Haggadah asks. It seems really cool.

Chag sameach, y'all.

Jealous of your vid productivity! I cranked out a premiere for BItchin' Party and have done nothing since, though I allegedly have a vid for a wedding due in…9 days. Plus CVV premiere, which I have a project file for and that's it. I guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow night.

Chag sameach!
