A list of authors I have mentioned reading in my Boring Ranting about Books tag this year, sorted by gender:

Female: 15
Courtney Milan
Jennifer Graham
Alena Graedon
Ilona Andrews
Rainbow Rowell
Diana Wynne Jones
NK Jemisin
Dorothy Sayers
Connie Willis
Emily St. John Mandel
Marjorie Liu
Katherine Addison
Ann Leckie
Jo Walton
Julie Czerneda

Male: 17
Rob Thomas
Jim Butcher
Ilona Andrews
Marko Kloos
Michael Lewis
Chris Beckett
John Varley
Robert Heinlein
Kazuo Ishiguro
Kevin J. Anderson
Max Gladstone
Myke Cole
Cixin Liu
Lev Grossman
Ramez Naam
Ken Liu
Michael Chabon

A few notes: Ilona Andrews is a pen name for a husband and wife team, so it appears on both lists. I suspect in total page count the count would lean more heavily male, because of all the Butcher. But I'm surprised how close it is to 50:50 on author count. I doubt that would have been true a few years ago. 7/32 are authors of color, ~20%.

I count by book rather than author, and I'm currently on F57 / M58 creators (including two creators for graphic novels, which skews the count towards male). I haven't been counting novels separately but I shall now do so, and be surprised if that category doesn't skew female... F20 / M7 (with Angela Thirkell, NOT a rec, and Tove Jansson at 5 each). 13 books by authors of colour from four different continents and an island, but only 1 novel unless we're including non-Israeli resident Jewish authors as poc (in some senses) which would add another 1 (also 4 novels with poc protagonists and 1 with a non-Israeli resident Jewish protagonist). Disabled characters are well represented, and so are non-heterosexual characters (also some non-humans, and non-binary-gendered characters). Non-heterosexual authors are well-represented, but I find "disabled" authors srsly difficult to categorise so can only claim 1 indisputable novel by a self-declared disabled author.

I only began counting like this last year, because a friend asked me to, so it'll be interesting for me to compare the two years... next January.
