It's kinda hard, tonight, to say that we shouldn't have a Worldcon in Jeddah but we should have one in Washington DC.

If I were ever a Republican, it was because of my natural conservatism, my preference for slow deliberation and resolving conflict or injustice through the workings of the political process over resolution through violence and the mob. The Republican Party today is not in that sense a conservative party and I am not a Republican.

Yeah, we're definitely and clearly on the slope.

How are things developing regarding Is there a Hotel? (Though August, I'm not sure where we'll be given the speed of logistics and the mutation strain.) I'm wondering if Chicago is going to have to do two years of Honor/Party on top of their own.

So much sympathy :( Yeah, I wish the republican party supported normal conservatism instead of what they seem to have become :(

I have been thinking of how I would react, if my side pulled something like this. I mean, I want to have faith in us. I also, kinda, recognize that storming the Capitol Building is maybe a reasonable response, if, like my parents (who are not there, but), you genuinely believe that the election is stolen. On the previous hand, wtf and so much that it took to get here.

Anyway, my sympathies. That is a really hard place to be.

I remember noting somewhere recently that my party registration let me vote against Trump four times instead of just twice. that said, I don't know how long it's been since a New Jersey primary for a federal election (late in the season as they are) has ever actually mattered, and if they don't get their act together and fix this in the next midterms then I'm done.

twenty years ago I could at least believe that the GOP actually supported small government and fiscal responsibility. now I don't even see that.
