My least favorite part of Chanukah:


Getting home late at night and a bit tipsy (in this case after a lovely Sheva Brachos) and lighting candles AND THEN HAVING TO STAY AWAKE FOR WHAT FEELS LIKE A LONG TIME WAITING FOR THE CANDLES TO BURN OUT.

This sounds like the beginning of a madcap comedy taking place over 8 days where you try to invent a new candle that burns quickly. Dancing ensues.

I mean, there is a halakhically mandated minimum time the candle is supposed to last.

I realized that was likely the case after I posted! Clearly the movie ends with you inventing a candle that should only last for a night, but in fact lasts much longer.

Fortunately the cats mostly seem to just want to stare at the candles from a distance, not to (as one past feline has) stick their tails in them.

...I should dig out my dreidel, that's a much safer thing for them to distract themselves with.
