Jun. 14th, 2019 04:29 pmTomorrow's Erev Bloomsday. Like last year, I'm going to celebrate with an Irish-themed Shabbos lunch including recipes from the James Joyce cookbook. This is my first time hosting guests for Shabbos in a few months, and I am excited.
Sunday I am hosting a NY-metro area vidding day, which I always feel manipulative saying. :P AKA I tricked a bunch of New Yorkers into shlepping out to New Jersey for the day. I'm the only New Jerseyan in the group, so if not for me you'd just say "NYC vidder group" but I'm the one organizing so muahaha. I had been sure that my three year streak of Israeli dance music vids for a con dance party had ended with the end of Club Vivid, but I found a vidsong two weeks ago and![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
absolutedestiny approved the song, and since then I've been frantically vidding, so Sunday I'll hopefully finish a Sparkle Motion vid, get a quick round of feedback, and submit it to extend the streak to an inexplicable fourth year. luminosity looked at a draft last night and said mostly nice things (and the not nice things are probably straightforwardly fixable), so I am feeling pretty good about my chances.
Oh, I also wanted to mention a thing. I entered "The Engineer" into a youtube vidding contest. The prompt for the first round was "Why Do We Vid?", and I feel like "The Engineer" offers a sustained metaphoric answer to that question: the joy of creation, of starting with raw material and working it and working it until you can fly.
The contest entries are extremely varied, in style and theme, as youtube often is. Not all of them are to my aesthetic taste, but even the ones that aren't, I've learned from.
