Apr. 22nd, 2018 03:21 pmWeather is, finally, gorgeous today- low sixties, lots of sun, little wind. I went out for a bike ride on the D&R trail and clocked in a little over 27 miles. Which I think is the longest ride I've ever taken. It also clears another milestone- it's longer than my Helsinki ride last summer, reassuring myself that riding long distances isn't something I can only do in Europe. The ride today took about 4 hours, of which roughly 3 hours were actually pedal time. I have started using the Strava app on my phone when biking, so I get all sorts of nifty and pointless statistics, which is somehow motivating.
Shabbos there was a young professionals Shabbaton in town, which was a really good time. I've gone to a few of these Shabbatons over the past year and have mostly enjoyed them, but the social fit wasn't perfect- either there would be nobody all that interested in talking to me at times, or there'd be people who wanted to talk to me, but they were obnoxious or boring. But this Shabbos I met lots of cool people and hung out with cool people I already knew, and had a good time through the whole event- good food, good conversations about science and technology and Pirkei Avot and Parshat Metzora and self-improvement.
aaaand I should be cleaning and doing errands. Will go do that now.
