Nov. 26th, 2017 09:53 pmIt's been a nice long weekend.
Wednesday night I shlepped into Queens with my mother for a family wedding. A third cousin, I think, and figuring out how people were related to each other was a theme of the night. But it was great seeing all sorts of family again. My grandmother grew up in Brooklyn within a block and a half of a whole slew of cousins, who I gather were basically all raised together. The bride was one of those cousins's granddaughters.
My great-uncle brought some photos of my grandmother at the '39 World's Fair and I got a chance to corner him and ask for stories. I got to banter with some of my dad's cousins who have been teasing me since before I could walk. The wedding band was great, the food was great, it was a good time.
Worn out by the wedding, my mother declared she did not want a big Thanksgiving, just a small family dinner, so the five of us had a quiet meal on Thursday evening.
Friday I finally took down my Sukkah and took a short bike ride around the neighborhood and then brought in the Shabbos. Which I mostly slept through. :D :D
Saturday night after Shabbos I worked on my Festivid. Finished a draft, woo! #stillwaybehindonyuletide
This morning I met
brainwane at the train station and we went for a bike ride along the D&R Canal trail. It was chilly at first, but it warmed up as we rode, and it was a really lovely ride. We had a little excitement when the cops stopped us because they were in pursuit of a suspect up ahead on the trail and didn't want us to get in the way, but after that cleared up we finished our ride.
On the home stretch- literally a hundred feet away from the train station- my knees locked up. Fortunately that cleared up after a couple minutes and I walked
brainwane back to the station and then rode home. It's funny because I didn't feel like I'd pushed myself too much on the ride. I felt like I could have gone several miles further, at least, and then all of a sudden my muscles tightened up. Bodies are funny. I miss the one I had when I was twenty.
This evening I met my brother and we went to see Justice League. It was an okay movie. It was disjointed in places and didn't always make sense, the bad guy was boring, most of the Justice League itself was underdeveloped, Henry Cavill's Superman still makes no sense to me, but Wonder Woman was great, Bruce was done pretty well, and the movie had a sense of momentum that's been missing in a lot of the DCU films. Also the fanboy face Bruce made when Superman showed up to save the day was priceless.
