skygiants recommendation, I've worked my way through the Species Imperative trilogy by Julie Czerneda. Very odd. Galaxy-spanning space adventure trilogy, in which all the space adventure action is terribly boring. What is exciting is the salmon research.
The Species Imperative trilogy, as I read it, is a rewrite of The Odyssey starring Dr. Mackenzie Connor, a salmon researcher off the coast of British Columbia who really, really wants to study salmon migrations. In order to do so, she must travel far away from Earth, endure great challenges, avoid temptations, and never forget what really matters- salmon research.
Never before have I been so invested in salmon research.
