Apr. 3rd, 2013 10:04 amVeronica Mars bingeing continues, with a side detour to watch all of the Veronica Mars reunion show Party Down, which seriously has EVERYONE from Veronica Mars. Keith, Veronica, Logan, Meg, Dick, Vinnie plus several of the one episode guest stars. Party Down is seriously hilarious, too.
I'm midway through Season 2. I haven't really been loving the Logan/ Weevil feud, because most of the time I don't like Logan stories, but I really loved Logan and Weevil having a fake fight to seal their alliance, and I loved that it was the least faked fake fight ever.
I miss Wallace like burning. He needs to come back already. I loved the hilariously bitchy Alyson Hanigan/ Charisma Carpenter reunion. I love, despite everything I said in my last post, how aware VM is that it is a television show that people are watching, that people will recognize actors and make meta guesses and that subversion of expectations needs to work on many levels. I especially love that sometimes new recurring characters are introduced in the background of other stories, and sometimes they are foregrounded in their own stories, and sometimes they are foregrounded in stories that look like one-shot guest appearances, so that you can't use meta logic to figure out who's going to matter to the story arc.
And I love Veronica's continual reshaping of her identity. Is she an 09er, is she the kid of someone who works for an 09er, is she a detective, is she a student, is she just a problem solver? And then you layer it on top of the other identity play, her constant need for disguises. I loved when Wallace wasn't around and she had to play both roles in one of her cons. It was beautiful and epitomized Veronica for me.
