My dad had all the Travis McGee paperbacks. I know I read at least one during a summer of teenaged boredom, but remember the Spenser and Dick Francis sets better. They were all old enough to have archaic details like making calls at the pay phone for a dime, and outfits that were described as cool but were obviously weird and outdated. Maybe I'll try McGee again next time I see one in a Little Free Library.
