Aw, I remember the slow acquisition of spices, recipe by recipe! I'd open the spice drawer and feel so wealthy. Now it's twenty-odd years later, and now some spices/herbs have been replaced many times over, and a couple are still those original jars, because we've never used them beyond the recipe we first bought them for.

I had no idea that you were living with your parents, but as you say, you've always been circumspect with those details. And yes, if you have the luxury of being able to do that, it's a very sweet deal.
