seekingferretI got a flat tire last night. Driver error. :( A bit of freezing rain left a sheet of ice on my windshield after work, fairly opaque but not completely. I pulled out, navigated onto the road, and only then realized how poor the visibility was once I left the lighted safety of the office parking lot. I tried to pull over to the side of the road, but without being able to see the road, I slammed my front tire into the curb and popped it. :(
Got it fixed this morning. The tire guys put the car up on jacks and discovered that my left rear tire had a piece of metal embedded in one of the treads, so I ended up getting two new tires instead of just the one. This always seems to happen. You never get service on a car without ending up paying more than anticipated, but with the drive up to Cambridge set for tomorrow night I don't want to take chances with tires.
The one advantage of this was that waiting for car repairs give you a nice time to read. I finished The Traitor Baru Cormorant, which was amazing, and got a nice start into A Darker Shade of Magic, which seems interesting but so far a little slow-paced. Detailed reviews pending- I also owe a write-up of the next stupid Eve Dallas book, Vengeance in Death.
