Yeah. It's a really neat opera, but unfortunately I've only listened to it, never seen it.

I'm such a John Adams fangirl, and yet I've never seen any of his operas live. As for his other works, the BSO is doing "On the Transmigration of Souls" this year. I loved it so much I wrote my senior thesis on it in college, so I'm super excited about that.

Right after I wrote that comment I was like, "I wonder if I still have my thesis", but I think it was on my old computer that died before I could back up the hard drive, so it's probably lost. :-( I was very proud of it, though, particularly because in 2005 there was nothing written yet on music reacting to September 11, which was what my thesis was originally about--I had to narrow it down because all I could find on the topic were about "On the Transmigration of Souls". I wrote the thesis with like 2 articles on the piece and a biography of John Adams because there was just so little academic writing about any of it.
