I really enjoyed this! It gets past the comedy to the other nuances of the characters, especially Bart, who's such a gorgeous hero but largely isolated until he finds Jim. I love how we have Bart riding in alone at the beginning, then riding out with Jim at the end...it gives a really nice sense of forward & rising motion.

Thanks! Yeah, it's a movie about your basic Western loner realizing that he needs teamwork if he's going to triumph over the forces of structural racism, and I love that so much about it.

:) It's my favorite Mel Brooks movie, even though its aggressive '70s racial politics don't quite survive intact to our current political moment.
