That makes me think of this conversation, somehow. Not really sure the connection, just I suppose 'length of history' as a fallacy. New York has a Jewish history that goes back to the 1600s, but it's very hard to feel that history because it got overwhelmed by the twin migrations of German Jews and Eastern European Jews in the 1880s and early 1900s.
