But back in the states one of my vids premiered last night at

Sparkle Motion, the dance party at the new Fanworks convention, seems to be legibly the successor to Vividcon's Club Vivid dance party: Still DJ'ed by
absolutedestiny, still operating under the basic premise of dancing to vids set to dance music. After three years of submitting dance vids to Club Vivid set to Israeli dance songs, I wasn't planning to continue the tradition at Sparkle Motion, but at the last minute I got a song stuck in my head and a vid happened.
Anna Zaks's "Tik Tok" has no direct connection to Kesha's, which has inspired so many good dance vids. I have trouble parsing most of what Anna Zaks does; I have become an Old. But I think Tik Tok in her song refers to the streaming video service of that name, which is popular with The Kids. But part of what I liked about the song was the association it would summon to Kesha's "Tik Tok", which has plenty of CVV memories. When I submitted the song to
absolutedestiny he jokingly said "Oh, another "Tik Tok"? Yeah we always have room for that."
So I had the song but not the fandom, but I pretty quickly settled on Fiddler, flipping through the source I still have on my hard drive from making Might Lead to Mixed Dancing. When I finished Might Lead to Mixed Dancing I knew that wasn't the end of my association with those fandoms. There was joy in the vid, but there was also this constant frustration of only getting to devote a few seconds on all these things I was or had become massively fannish about. My Broad City vid "Third on the Playlist" was the first outgrowth of that, and "Tik Tok" is the second. (Other projects are still in the works)
I'm particularly glad to revisit Fiddler because Fiddler was at the heart of Might Lead to Mixed Dancing, I really think of it as the bones of that vid. And earlier drafts had a lot more Fiddler, I was forced to cut a lot of great things out because I needed room for other fandoms. But this time I got to showcase all of the amazing dancing in Fiddler, and all of the amazingly rich relationships.
I'm not sure whether or not there's anything thematically interesting here, but I really like my editing.
