This Week... I would like it to be over.

We have various government proposals due at various point this week. As a result, I went into work for a half day on Sunday, worked late on Monday, and on Tuesday I was there until 10PM. Most of the proposals were submitted then, and I left on Wednesday only marginally late, but we have one more due Friday around noon, and... now we are getting 8 inches of snow today and I have decided I do not wish to drive into work, so I am assuming my boss is going to be upset at me for not being as available to work on the proposal as he would like. I haven't actually heard anything from him since I emailed saying I wasn't coming in, and offered to do whatever I could do from home, so maybe he's managing... in spite of hyperbolic threats yesterday against anyone who couldn't get into work because of the snow.

In the meantime, I have a snow day, albeit at the moment a somewhat tense one as I wait to see if I actually am going to have to do work or if I'm free to relax and enjoy the day stuck in my apartment. I cannot wait for these damn proposal deadlines to be over for a while.

I hope you get to have the relaxing kind of snow day, not the tense kind! They'll figure out a way to get the proposal out the door -- they have to!

I get to have a kind of working from home but eventually going to the office day. Which I'm happy with -- for the first part I get to wear pajamas and for the second all I need to do is grab my work laptop and send out a budget I have saved on it and can't access from home and possibly make tea. (I keep my tea supplies for my favorite kind of tea at work, so don't get to enjoy it at home.)

I eventually had a basically relaxing morning, watched an episode of DS9 on my laptop while monitoring email and waited for the snow to slow down. Then I shoveled my driveway, ate lunch, and went to work.

/also coming off of proposal season, though this time I seem to have escaped the vast majority of it. But the late mon Tues thing is unfortunately way too familiar to me from past rounds.

Everything about the process is terrible. Every agency has its own submission forms that are completely arcane and require you to speak bureaucratese as a second language. We made a minor mistake in one of our submissions and sent an email asking if it could be corrected. A day later I get an email back informing me that a proposal submission has been reopened for the next twenty four hours, but it has no identifying information telling me which proposal submission they meant, so I had to call and make sure it was actually connected to fixing the minor mistake.
