Actually, my prescription was that Cotillion ought to be the novel to read if you were going to read only one. I oppose it as a first Heyer if you're going to read more than one, so you're doing it exactly right by my lights :)
I found Ready Player One really... simplistic and not very interesting, and I probably wouldn't have finished it except for the part where it was clearly just an excuse for the author to geek out about the 1980's, which -- since I grew up in the 80's -- made it fun enough that I still get a smile on my face thinking about it.
